Automobiles in German City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police reported they were contacted by a resident who found a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Police report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.

Officers then found multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they added.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for information.

A senior official stated the attack made him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a assailant targeting people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
